THE FIRST STEP

2 nights · 1 full day of immersion Your first step into The Herd

Can you already imagine it? Stepping onto Namibian soil with nothing figured out — no plan, no itinerary, no need to perform — and simply letting the land, the Herd, and the quiet decide what needs your attention?

You don't have to know what you need before you arrive.

You don't need a plan.

And you certainly don't need to arrive with your life neatly figured out.

The First Step is simply an invitation to come and experience what happens when you step into a different way of being.

Because this is the part that might surprise you: at The African Healing Centre, we don't follow a fixed programme. We create a living container — held by the land, the Herd, our knowledge and experience — and then we observe what emerges.

Because life doesn't always follow a schedule. And neither do you.

There is no programme. There is a container.

You may arrive wondering: "So... what's the plan?"

We understand. Most retreats have one. And if you've ever sat through one, you already know that feeling of being processed through someone else's checklist.

But we don't work that way.

Instead, we create enough structure to hold you, and enough space for life to show us what needs your attention.

Your immersion might include Spinal Flow™, Human Design-informed coaching, time with the Herd, intuitive work, nature, creative exploration, conversation, stillness, nourishing food, laughter, and the unexpected.

But we don't decide on Friday what Sunday needs to look like.

We observe. We listen. We respond. And the immersion unfolds from there.

"Your positive and warm personality, your positive and empathetic energy made it easy to relax and to be comfortable to share personal experiences and feelings."

Clemens

What might your First Step look like?

There is no standard itinerary.

One person might need to talk. Another might need silence. Someone else might need to walk through the bush, draw, sit with a goat, explore their Human Design, or simply spend time doing something completely ordinary in a place where nobody is asking them to perform.

Your body may ask for Spinal Flow. Your mind may bring a question. The Herd may draw you towards them. Something you have been carrying may surface during a conversation.

Or nothing particularly dramatic may happen at all.

All of it belongs.

The First Step is not about creating a particular experience. It is about becoming curious enough to notice the experience that is actually happening.

Ready To Take Your First Step?

"It's a returning. A returning home. To yourself, mother nature and the essence of life itself. Honestly, it's not something to describe & explain, but something that needs to be felt, experienced & absorbed. I believe this can change the world for everyone who is willing to face tthe fact that we are just human. Nothing else."

Danica

Three doorways. One living experience.

Our work often moves through three interconnected doorways:

BODY — Spinal Flow™ A gentle, body-based practice that invites you to notice what your body is communicating and to reconnect with its innate intelligence.

MIND — Human Design A lens for understanding how you are uniquely designed to make decisions, use your energy, and move through life.

SOUL — The Herd Time with the animals, the land, and the living world around you — where observation becomes relationship, and relationship reveals what words sometimes cannot.

These aren't three separate treatments. They are three ways of seeing. And any one of them may lead you into the others.

"The African Healing Centre is the go to place for resetting & healing body, mind and spirit"

Steffi Sch.

And then there is the Herd.

You may spend time with individual goats. You may sit quietly among them. You may walk with them. You may receive a Goat Oracle message. You may simply watch.

And sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is nothing at all. Just sit. Breathe. Listen. Be surrounded by a herd that isn't asking you to explain yourself.

One of our guests recently asked to sit with the whole Herd in the evening after experiencing their presence during the day. She wanted to feel that stillness again.

For now, our larger night enclosures remain closed to visitors because the Herd's safety comes first. We have learned this the hard way, and we will never compromise their protection for an experience.

Our vision is to eventually create a space where the Herd can be safely accessible around the clock — not because guests need to use them, but because sometimes you know exactly where you need to be.

And perhaps that place is simply beside the Herd.

Your First Step Begins Here.

What happens when you arrive?

There is no checklist. But there is a rhythm.

You arrive. You settle. You meet the humans. You meet the Herd. You begin to notice the land.

And somewhere along the way, we begin to notice you.

Perhaps we explore your Human Design. Perhaps you receive a Spinal Flow. Perhaps a question you've been carrying finally finds its way into conversation. Perhaps a goat chooses to participate. Perhaps you discover something while walking alone through the bush. Perhaps you spend an evening around the fire, eating good food and laughing with people you only met that day. Perhaps you sit quietly and realise that you haven't felt this still in a very long time.

There is no right way to do your First Step.

What you take home

We're not promising that you will arrive with a problem and leave with it solved. That's not what we do.

You may leave with clarity. A new question. A different perspective. A decision you've been avoiding. A deeper understanding of yourself. A sense of what your next step might be.

Or simply the memory of what it felt like to stop performing for a while.

You leave seeing differently. And seeing differently is a lifelong skill.

The First Step is for you if...

Something in you is asking for a different way of seeing. You might be tired of trying to fix yourself. You might feel overwhelmed by the noise of everyday life. You might be at a crossroads. You might be curious about your Human Design. You might want to experience Spinal Flow. You might simply feel drawn to the Herd.

You don't need to know exactly why you're coming. You only need enough curiosity to come and see what happens when you do.

Things People Ask About The First Step

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the The First Step held?

The First Step takes place at The African Healing Centre, an authentic Namibian farm-based sanctuary about an hour east of Windhoek.

This is where our Herd lives, where we work with the land, the animals and each other, and where your immersion unfolds. The setting is an essential part of the experience — there is no separate "retreat venue" here.

Do I need any experience with animals, Human Design or healing work?

You don't need previous experience with goats or other animals, Human Design, Spinal Flow™ or any other form of healing work.

You simply need to arrive with enough curiosity to experience something different.

We'll meet you where you are and introduce you to whatever becomes relevant during your time here.

What actually happens during The First Step?

There is no fixed programme.

Your immersion may include Spinal Flow™, Human Design-informed exploration, time with the Herd, Goat Oracle work, nature, intuitive or creative work, conversation, quiet time and simply being here.

What happens, and when, depends on you and on what emerges during your stay.

We observe. We listen. We respond.

The experience is intentionally held rather than rigidly scheduled.

How much Human Design coaching is included?

Human Design is one of the ways we understand the person in front of us, rather than a separate programme you have to work through.

If your Human Design is relevant to what you're exploring during your stay, we'll bring it into the conversation.

We don't overwhelm you with information or expect you to learn Human Design in a day. We use what is useful, when it is useful, and in a way that you can actually begin to apply to your life.

Will I have time with the goats?

Yes.

The Herd is an integral part of life at the Centre.

You may spend time with individual goats, walk with them, observe them, sit quietly among them or experience a Goat Oracle session. Sometimes the most meaningful moments are much simpler than that.

There is no requirement to "do" anything with the animals.

You can simply be with them.

The Herd's wellbeing always comes first, however, and some areas or times may not be accessible to guests.

Can I spend time with the whole Herd at night?

For now, no.

Our larger night enclosures are closed to visitors because the Herd needs to be protected from predators and poachers at night. We have learned through difficult experience that their safety cannot be compromised.

We are working towards a future where the Herd can safely be accessible around the clock for those moments when someone may simply want to sit quietly in their presence.

Until then, we ask our guests to respect the Herd's nighttime space.

What should I bring with me?

Come comfortably and practically.

We recommend:

  • comfortable clothing suitable for being outdoors and moving freely

  • closed shoes for walking in the bush

  • a hat and sun protection

  • a water bottle

  • any personal items you need for your comfort

You'll be spending time outside, with animals and in nature, so come prepared to get a little farm dust on you.

Is The First Step suitable if I don't know what I need?

Absolutely.

You don't have to arrive with a clearly defined problem, goal or healing intention.

You may know exactly why you're coming.

You may simply feel that something needs to change.

Or you may have no idea at all.

That's okay.

The First Step is an opportunity to observe what is actually happening in your life and begin seeing yourself, your choices and your circumstances differently.

Is The First Step a retreat?

No.

We don't offer retreats.

A retreat usually takes you away from life for a defined programme.

The First Step is an immersion into a living way of being.

Life itself becomes part of the experience — the Herd, the land, the weather, the conversations, the silence, the unexpected.

You don't come here to escape life.

You come here to experience it differently.

What if I'm not "spiritual" or I'm new to this kind of work?

You don't need to arrive with a particular belief system.

You don't have to understand Human Design, animal communication or any of the other ways we work before you come.

Come curious.

Ask questions.

Observe.

You are always free to make your own sense of what you experience here.

Can I come on my own?

Yes.

In fact, many people come alone.

The First Step is intentionally intimate, and coming alone doesn't mean you will be alone throughout your experience. You'll be held within the living environment of the Centre — with the humans, the Herd, the land and whatever naturally unfolds around you.

If you prefer to come with someone, that's possible too.

What does the accommodation look like?

You'll stay in our guest accommodation on the farm.

The current accommodation consists of two rooms sharing bathroom facilities, with two beds in each room. This means we can comfortably welcome between one and four guests, depending on the booking.

The accommodation is simple, comfortable and farm-style rather than luxury lodge-style.

You are coming here to immerse yourself in the Centre, not to be tucked away in a resort room.

What is included in the price?

Your First Step includes:

  • two nights' accommodation

  • meals and refreshments during your stay

  • your First Step immersion

  • Spinal Flow™

  • individual guidance and coaching

  • Human Design-informed exploration

  • time with the Herd

  • Goat Oracle work

  • time in nature

  • space for quiet and reflection

The exact rhythm is shaped around you rather than delivered as a fixed programme.

How do I choose my date?

Choose your preferred available date through the booking calendar.

Because The First Step is deliberately kept small, availability is limited.

Once you have submitted your booking, we'll send you the information you need to complete your commitment and prepare for your arrival.

How do I pay?

Because we are based in Namibia, our booking system does not currently accept online credit-card payments.

After you book your preferred date, you'll receive an email with our banking details and payment instructions.

Full payment is required upfront to secure your place.

Payment can be made by electronic bank transfer (EFT), or by international bank transfer if you are travelling from outside Namibia.

Your booking is confirmed once payment has been received.

Can I ask questions before I book?

Of course.

If you're unsure whether The First Step is right for you, or simply want to understand something before making your commitment, contact us.

We'd rather you ask than book something that isn't right for you.

What if I come expecting a programme?

Then you're going to discover something different. 😉

We don't schedule your experience from beginning to end because we don't believe meaningful observation works that way.

There is a container.

There are tools.

There is guidance.

And there is plenty of space for life to happen.

The programme is what emerges when we pay attention.

Your First Step Begins With Your Commitment

Your place at The African Healing Centre is confirmed once payment has been received.

Because we are based in Namibia, online credit-card payments are currently not available through our booking system. When you complete your booking, you will receive our banking details by email and payment is made by bank transfer (EFT).

Payment is required upfront to secure your immersion.

This allows us to prepare your space, arrange the Centre around your arrival and, most importantly, honour the commitment you have made to yourself and to this experience.

If you're travelling internationally, your bank may charge a small fee for the transfer. Please make sure the full amount reaches us.

A one-of-a-kind sanctuary where the wisdom of the Namibian bush, the love of our healing herd, and the clarity of intuitive coaching unite to guide you on your journey back to yourself.
